Homework Information!

All 4th grade students are required to read for at least 20 minutes per night. Students in our class write down what they read in their daily agenda, and get the agenda signed by their parents each weeknight. We'll keep track of which genres we're reading at home and at school (and how much we've read each genre) on individual reading logs and a class genre chart.
Additional Homework:
Math homework is assigned at least 2 to 3 nights per week.
Word Study (spelling) homework is assigned daily during each unit. Word Study homework sheets are given to students on Day 1 of each unit. Students are assessed according to whether they know how to spell their high frequency words for the unit in a cloze passage, whether they can determine the meaning of various root words, and how neatly they can write their high frequency words in cursive.
Social Studies & Science: While we learn about amazing topics to include the water cycle, explorers, the American Revolution, etc., students will have at least 1 homework assignment each week involving social sciences. In addition, study guides are given one week in advance of the test for each unit. Once a study guide is given to students, they should spend at least 5 to 10 minutes per night studying the information they've learned. They should also use their interactive science and social studies notebooks to help prepare for each test.
